Fr. Nathan W. O’Halloran, S.J., grew up on The Lord’s Ranch, a Catholic lay community founded in 1975 in Vado, a southern New Mexico border town. The son of Catholic missionaries who met and married at The Lord’s Ranch, Fr. Nathan and his seven siblings were home-schooled, which provided the opportunity for them to work on the ranch and serve the poor across the border in Juarez, Mexico. Fr. Nathan was profoundly influenced by the work of Fr. Rick Thomas, a Jesuit and founder of The Lord’s Ranch. After graduating from Franciscan University of Steubenville in Ohio, he entered the novitiate of the Jesuit order. Missioned to Fordham University in the Bronx, New York, he earned a master’s degree in Philosophy in 2008. After teaching Greek and Theology at Jesuit High School in New Orleans, O’Halloran was missioned to the Jesuit School of Theology in Berkeley, CA, where he earned a Master of Divinity degree and a Licentiate in Sacred Theology. Father O’Halloran was ordained a priest in the Society of Jesus in 2014. After earning a PhD in Theology from the University of Notre Dame in 2020, he took his current post as Assistant Professor of Religious Studies and Director of Catholic Studies at Loyola University New Orleans.
